Although the server has been recently increased from 20 i believe to the current 30 although this is a respectable size i know that many more people could join at prime time i believe that with the current server popularity the server could support 50 people. I know that bob is pre-occupied with many other things but even in the far future i think it would be a good idea

Please take this into consideration for far or maybe near future endeavors for server expansion

The server used to have 32. Went down to 30
ALSO, remember this, server slots aren't just about performance, they're about money.
$1.99 US Dollars for 1 slot PER month (Lowpings.net)

So, thats roughly $100 ($99.50 to be exact) USD Per month for 50 Slots

I'm not sure where Bob gets his server hosted, so it can be more expensive/ cheaper but I'm sure it's around that price range from the $90-$110 range


Basically, it's gonna be expensive as crap Neutral


Don't get me wrong, 25 Vs. 25 battles will be AMAZINGLY fun, but the harsh truth is that servers cost money and money is... money.

Actually that's no longer the case.

When you rent a VDS, you pay per slot, because you don't actually have access to the machine itself.

In this case, I rent a VPS, so I rent the whole machine, therefore there wouldn't be a price difference for 2 slots or 94532 slots

Now the problem here is strictly performances. We have so much shit going on in the server at once that the server has to handle, that 32 starts to be a bit too much.

But the biggest issue right now is the GODDAMN MAX EDICTS glitch that happen when it shouldn't, and that I have yet to find out why it's doing that.

But one thing for sure is: We get to the max a hell of a lot faster if there are 32 people than if there's only like 20 or 25. You wouldn't think that 30 would make a big difference compared to 32, but it's exponential.

Bottom line is: Once I manage to fix the goddamn edicts glitch problem, we MIGHT go back to 32 or even more.

Oh, thats good to hear, yeah then in that case, optimization is gonna need to happen, server crashes are frequent enough.

Eventually, we might have a massive server.

I'm playing arround in hammer editor trying to make an extended version of C18 Razz

Don't. I hate C18's scenery design. The map design like for gameplay and stuff is nice, but there's many things that suck about the map, namely all the textures and colors and stuff, it's all brown and gray and lame.

A City 8 (Tokyo) but with a hell of a lot better map design all around oriented for combat and team-dm would be ideal

C18 has the best team-DM map I have ever been on [in Gary's Mod]. There's enough space to do some RP stuff, if one ever gets bored, or wants to organize an all out war thing, but yeah the colors do kinda...suck. a Bit drab. The one residential map is bright and inviting, but it just feels more car oriented.

I'm still trying to understand the layout of Tokyo [and the fastest routes].Rolling Eyes

Yeah something like the design of City 18 but with the scenery and textures of City 8 would be orgasmic as hell

you should make that imo

or whoever knows how to make maps

the problem with map making is that you gotta know it about as much as knowing coding to make a decent server

by that I mean, if you suck at it, your maps are gonna suck big time, so you need to practice for a long time before making something decent

Yeah, I'm researching C18 and City 8 right now and the textures they use.
It's gonna be a bit more reliant on CS:S textures though.

I'm also looking for ways to improve C8
I'm gonna start a new thread for the City 8 reconstruction.

And... everyone has gotta start somewhere huh?
It may be awhile until I get anything good since I am a 15 year old kid who has high-school (Eww)
Though this may be good practice for me, and motivation since usually when I'm doing stuff for myself I'm unmotivated as crap
